Reflection
This assignment was very interesting. It was a lot of work once I got into it. The biography wasn’t difficult, it’s rather easy to write 500 words on someone’s life. The timeline got me stuck just a little, not on the published works, but on the event. I wasn’t sure how to tie a certain event into a whole life changing experience, so I used a string of events that all tied together, and brought them to one final conclusion. Also, the analysis was tricky. Making sense of poetry isn’t my strong suit, so this was more of a struggle than anything, but once I got it going and was able to gather my thoughts, it was a lot easier. Though I think that 750 words of analysis is bit much, it was more fluffing that actual analyzing, also a bit of ranting and restating ideas that have already been said. I think that the analysis should be focused on not only the work, or works in my case, but also the author or poet as well. I think that analyzing the poet would make analyzing the works simpler, and then we could draw parallels and point things out, like characteristics about the poet that show in their poetry. Altogether I really enjoyed this project. It was a fun idea, creating a website, and it let me use my creativity, making the entire thing more enjoyable for me as a whole. It enabled us to learn about a person, as well as go into detail while analyzing a work or works done by this said person. The freedom of this project also helped to make it more enjoyable. You have us a general idea, but there was a lot of freedom. We got to chose the person for researched, the work or works we read, and then from there we could let our own minds dig deep into the literature allowing us to draw our own conclusions. I learned quite a lot during the course of this project, and it wasn’t a boring, painstaking process, which I was very thankful for.
